HR Manager

Total Mayhem Games is looking for an HR Manager to join our team in Rotterdam. We’re the indie game studio behind the We Were Here series—co-op puzzle adventures that have brought more than 25 million players together worldwide. We’re a team of people who genuinely care about what they create, and that passion, creativity, and energy are something you feel the moment you walk through our doors. 

We have a solid HR foundation in place, and we are looking for someone to help it grow. You are someone who understands what the team and the organization needs, and you build naturally from there.

What you'll do

As our HR Manager, your responsibilities are broad and cover every facet of the HR field. That means everything from strategic sparring with the board and management team, to managing the HR budget, running the annual compensation review, coordinating recruitment, or organizing onboarding for a new teammate. You maintain our personnel records in HoorayHR, collaborate closely with the office manager to foster a positive workplace culture, and coordinate with our accountant and external legal counsel whenever needed. You are a true all-rounder across both operational and strategic levels.

Who you are

• You bring substantial HR experience and are comfortable working autonomously; Ideally, you have worked in a solo HR role before;

• You thrive in an informal, dynamic environment where quality matters, and people naturally find you warm, approachable, and easy to connect with;

• You act as a neutral and trusted sounding board, creating a safe space where everyone in the studio feels comfortable coming to you in confidence.

• You maintain a clear overview of the big picture while keeping administrative processes sharp and organized;

• You know when attention to detail matters and when to focus on the broader vision;

• You communicate effortlessly in both Dutch and English, both written and spoken;

• You believe that people thrive when an organization takes good care of them, and vice versa;

• You do not shy away from difficult conversations. You are genuinely there for the people in our studio while knowing when and where to draw the line. To you, policy is a tool rather than an end in itself: every decision is weighed by what benefits both the organization and the people who make it tick;
